Newsroom Update podcast logoStarting Sept. 19, readers will be able to listen to Enterprise-Record headlines with the debut of the "Newsroom Update" audio program on chicoer.com.

Each weekday afternoon, the Enterprise-Record will present a brief synopsis of top stories being prepared by reporters. The program is a "sneak peek" of stories in the works for chicoer.com and the next day's print edition of the Enterprise-Record.

Each 1- to 3-minute program will be uploaded at around 5 p.m. on weekdays. The format is mp3 audio and the file size will be around a megabyte.

Readers will be able to listen to and download the program on chicoer.com. They will also be able to "subscribe" to the Newsroom Update podcast (see sidebar).

Users can also subscribe to the Newsroom Update "podcast" to automatically download the program to their computers and MP3 music players (such as Apple's iPod). Podcasts use a technology known as RSS (a type of syndication) to let users know when a new program has been published.

iTunes users -- Those using Apple's iTunes (ver. 4.9 and up), may subscribe by clicking here. Users may also find the podcast by searching for "Enterprise-Record" at the iTunes Store.

Other users -- Newsroom Update has its own RSS feed. Users can copy and paste this link into "newsreaders" or "podcatchers" -- programs geared to monitor RSS feeds and download podcasts. "Podcatchers" can include software programs or Web sites. Click to add podcast to Google and My Yahoo.
