-Pagination Examples

At The Daily Mining Gazette in Houghton, Mich., reporters -- including me -- were trained to use QuarkXPress to create page layouts. I was asked to put together a wire page about once a week, but would work on pages when asked including overnight shifts into the weekend edition.

I first earned pagination experience at The UCSD Guardian in college where I initially served as news designer before moving to news editor my sophomore year. At the Guardian, I put together the entire news section, which typically consisted of about 4-5 pages, including the front page.

At the Gazette, I was asked occasionally to compose section fronts and page 1A. These are some examples of my work. To view the layouts properly, you'll need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.
